JEANNE SWANNER ROBERTSON is named The 2003 Woman of Achievement by the
Miss North Carolina Pageant Organization. The presentation will be made
on June 21st from the stage of Memorial Auditorium in Raleigh at the state
pageant. Presenting the award will be Susan Lawrence Googe, Miss North
Carolina 1975 and first runner-up to the Miss America 1975.
In honor of JEANNE SWANNER ROBERTSON, Graham Public Library Children's
Division will receive children's books given in her honor by the 2003
contestants of the Miss North Carolina Pageant and by the 2003 Carolina
Princesses. She will be honored in July by the Graham Historical Society
with an exhibit in the town museum dedicated to her year as Miss North
Carolina.
Returning after 40 years, JEANNE SWANNER ROBERTSON, who at 6'2" was the
tallest contestant to compete in the Miss America Pageant and was named
Miss Congeniality the year she competed, will crown this year's winner of
the Miss North Carolina Pageant. The state pageant is celebrating its
66th anniversary this year.
